ULTRA LIGHT FLIGHT
Ultralight aircraft take off from Pokhara and offer spectacular

to see life from a new perspective. The choice of the Pokhara
Valley for Ultralight aircraft is appropriate chiefly because of
the proximity of the mountains, and the scenic lakes. For those

PARA GLIDING
Paragliding in Nepal can be a true wonderful and fulfilling
experience for the adventure seeking. A trip will take you over
some of the best scenery on earth, as you share airspace with
Himalayan griffin vultures, eagles, kites and float over
villages, monasteries, temples, lakes and jungle, with a
fantastic view of the majestic Himalaya Like Mt. Annapurna, Mt.
Machapuchre (holy mountain) and many more. Gliding is a weather
dependent sport and the fling season in Nepal commences from
November through February, the best months being November and
December. The take- off point for these flights is Sarangkot
(1592m), which also offers prime views of Phewa Lake and the
mountains at sunrise and sunset ( provided the skies are clear )

BUNGEE JUMPING
Nepal's first bungee jumping site is situated 160m over the wild
Bhote Koshi River, and located close to the Nepal-Tibet border,
a three-hour bus ride from Kathmandu, as can be arranged on
arrival in Kathmandu. As of now, there is only one agency
offering this sport. The jump, at 160m, was designed by one of
New Zealand's leading bungee consultants, and is operated by
some of the most experienced jump masters in the business. It's
mishap-proof. The agency takes safety "very, very seriously".
Location :- Less than 3 hours outside Kathmandu by Ultimate
Bungy Shuttle. You will travel the Arniko (Kathmandu/Lhasa)
Highway to within 12km of the Tibet Border and the famous
Friendship Bridge.
The Gorge :- Ultimate Bungy Nepal takes place on a 166m wide
steel suspension bridge over the Bhoti Kosi River.
The Bridge :- Swiss designed, especially for bungee jumping with
a 4x safety factor. The bridge has a loading factor of 250kg per
running meter. This means that the bridge will hold 250 x 166 =
41,500kg or 4.5 tones. And. Those are Swiss measurements! * Over
6000 meters of steel wire was used to build the bridge * Longest
suspension bridge in Nepal * The bridge joins two sides of a
great valley. Before its construction, locals walked five hours
to cross this river gorge. |

MOUNTIN BIKING
The best ay to explore the Kathmandu valley is on a mountain
bike. Nepal’s diverse terrain is a mountains biker’s dream
adventure come true. Mountain biking offer an environmentally
sound way of exploring this magnificent country, its landscape
and living heritage. There are plenty of dirt roads and trails
in Nepal to meet every mountains biker’s wildest fantasy.
Mountain biking is especially recommended if you wish to explore
urban centers of Nepal such as Pokhara and kathmandu well as the

BIRD WATCHING IN NEPAL
Nepal is bird watcher's paradise. Nepal has various types of
birds that are endangered too. It boasts 848-recorded species of
birds. An ardent bird watcher can travel the length and breadth
of Nepal doing little else for bird watching. Birding is
possible everywhere in Nepal from the hot plains to the
mountainous region.
SOME MAJOR PLACES FOR BIRD WATCHING.
Koshi Barrage and Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve :-
These lies to the far east of Nepal. The Koshi is great for
waterfowl and waders, with about 26 varieties of ducks alone.
The method of viewing birds in the Koshi by boat, gliding
through the waters in the stillness of the early morning and
evening. The reserve has more than 450 species of birds
including Honey Kites, Ospreys; Black headed Orioles, Black
Ibis, Peregrine Falcon, Storks, and Partridges.
The Shivapuri Watershed and Wildlife Reserve :-
The area lies 12km north of the capital city. Laughing Thrush,
Crested Serpent Eagle, Ruby-Throats, Babblers and Little pied
flycatchers have been sighted in this area. Besides Shivapuri,
Nagarjune at an altitude 2100m displays various types of birds
such pheasants, magpies, Ruby-throats and Sunbirds.
The Royal Chitwan National Park :-
The park is the well-known site in Nepal for bird watching
activities. The park has around 500-recorded species of birds
including Stork billed kingfishers, Asian paradise flycatchers,
Bee-eaters, Blue Indian roller and Cormorants.
Bardia National Park :-
Bardia is also the paradise for bird watching. The best location
to see the birds is the mighty flowing Karnali River. Boating on
the Karnali River is a great way to see the various types of
birds such as Oriental pied
hornbills, Night Herons, Ruddy Shell duck, Purple herons.
The Kathmandu valley :-
It has four main bird watching areas. One can start on the banks
of the Bagmati and Manohara Rivers. Kingfishers, Egrets, Ibis
bill, Wood sand pipers, Plovers, Herons are sighted along these
areas. The Chovar gorge is particularly recommended as an area
for birds as its isolation from human habitation has encouraged
their presence.
Phulchowki hill :-
It is another ideal site, with a Red-headed Trogan (It was last
seen 44 years ago), a very rare bird sighted here in 2000. It
lies 18km southeast of Kathmandu at an altitude 2760m. About 90
species of birds have been recorded in this area including
Babbler, Cutia, Endemic spring, Mountain hawk Eagle,
Black-throated parrot
bill and Rufous Bellied pied woodpeckers.
The Pokhara valley :-
The Phewa and Begnas Lakes and its surrounded areas are the
perfect location to see the bird watching, particularly in the
less inhabited area. Around Phewa Lake, you discover such types
of birds Herons, ducks, falcons, pipits, egrets, terns and
buntings plus gulls. Likewise, The Begnas Lake, where Happie
Grey Bellied Tesias, ducks, bulbuls, pheasant-tailed jacana can
be seen. In the higher areas of Nepal on the trekking routes are
also excellent for bird watching. Such trekking areas, Jomsom
Trek, Annapurna sanctuary, Rara Jumla Trek, Arun valley,
Sagarmatha national park, Langtang and Gosainkunda Trek are best
location to see the birds. Besides trekking routes, Lumbini also
the good spot to discover the birds. Sarus crane the world's
tallest and endangered bird can be found in Lumbini. |
